As I sit trapped on my couch with a broken foot [don't walk in high heels unless you've been trained properly], I apologize in advance for the inevitable triteness of this update...
Plans for travel to Chicago and then Paris have been canceled, and my mom will be coming to Philadelphia to help me out within a few days. It's hard for me to be immobile, and while I'm incredibly grateful for the support from my friends and family, I really dislike asking for help. I'm used to independence and creativity. I look forward to the summer because it's generally the best time of the year for practicing, performing, and passion projects... So, I'm frustrated and sad to have to cancel plans and back out of jobs for the next 6 weeks or so. I admit a certain tendency toward holding the world's best pity party (while simultaneously acknowledging this is, on that infamous grand scheme, not that big of a deal). Regardless, Pikes Falls Chamber Music Festival and Visual Art Residency will certainly still happen in its entirety. In fact, the accident actually gives me more time to work on the festival for the next month. So, there's your upside, right? It's a pretty great upside. Our awesome Managing Director, Kaitlyn Dougher, just spent a few days in Vermont to sort out details. 2018 posters are being created, and all the press releases have been sent out. Organizationally, we're well on our way to the start of Season 7. However, as far as the fundraising goes, we still have a lot to do. From our $30,000 budget, we've raised $17,000.... so, we need to raise at least $13,000 before the start of the festival. PFCM has always been a crowdfunded festival; I love that so many people come together to create this yearly celebration of music and art. As always, anything and everything helps; your support is what makes the festival happen. As this fundraising continues, you can keep track of our progress on the Donate page of the PFCM website. (I anticipate having to send additional requests, so please bear with the updates until our goal has been reached.) Since I have so much time on my hands while I'm staying off my foot...[insert awkward laugh/groan], I'll be sure keep the other pages on the website up to date with additional news. Check out our Dates and Events page anytime to see the updated guest artists and PFCM concert repertoire. I think the line-up is pretty exciting. I hope you're excited too, and are ready to start planning your trip, and reserving Town Hall concert seats. It's going to be a great summer, y'all. Just give me a month to get back on my feet [additional awkward laugh/groan], and I promise to be fully recovered by August. Thank you all for your help; I can't wait to be up in Vermont again. It's my favorite place... Comments are closed.
