I just received this letter from one of our largest donors (after another generous donation), and wanted to share. – Susanna: Congratulations on your grant from New Music USA. The grant surely signals a fantastic opportunity for growth at the Pike Falls Chamber Music Festival–even more ways to bring music and art to everyone in the surrounding community. I can only imagine how hard you and your colleagues work to fund and prepare for the festival every year, but you’re in good company. Mozart struggled to make performances come off. Haydn and Schubert and Mahler and on it goes. But musicians today cannot turn to an Esterhazy or Franz Josef for money and patronage. Today, the public are the patrons, and if we believe that music is important (and I do) then we have an obligation to make music and to support it. Pike Falls is a happening that your public should be proud to support. I know I am. I hope my gift helps make this year’s work easier and maybe even puts a little in the tank for next year. KMG – Today, we also received a generous coffee donation from the Good Karma Cafe, a local coffee shop. (pictured) The musicians and artists will be well-caffeinated and ready to go!
