DANA ROKOSNY, VIOLA
Violist Dana Rokosny is rotating principal violist of the self-conducted Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra in Washington, DC and principal violist of the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra in Shepherdstown, WV. She is the violist in the Beau Soir Ensemble that frequently performs throughout the DC Metro area. Dana has performed at the Kennedy Center, Strathmore Mansion, Dumbarton House, Sidney Harmon Center and Anderson House among others. In addition she has appeared with The Washington Chorus, City Choir of Washington, Maryland Symphony Orchestra and the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra. In the Fall of 2014, Dana looks forward to performing as soloist with the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra.
Dana has toured with orchestras throughout the United States, Switzerland, Ireland, Russia and Armenia. She has performed in the Luzern Festival Academy led by Pierre Boulez and was a fellow and assistant principal violist in the American Conducting Academy Orchestra at the Aspen Music Festival. In 2002, she won the Ithaca College Concerto Competition, and in 2005, premiered a Viola Concerto written for her by Dr. Christopher Lee while at Rice University.
Her studies have taken her to Ithaca College, Rice University, and the Cleveland Institute of Music with Debra Moree, Karen Ritscher, and Lynne Ramsey, respectively. Additional studies have been with Doris Lederer of the Audubon Quartet. During the summers, Dana instructs viola at the Baltimore String Orchestra Camp and performs in the Allegheny Chamber Music Festival. Currently, Dana is Adjunct Violin/Viola Faculty at the Holton-Arms School and Frederick Community College and maintains a small studio at her home in Potomac, MD.
